In 1974, Pina Bausch created her dance opera "Iphigenie auf Tauris" to the music of the eponymous opera by Christoph Willibald Gluck. She developed to live sung and played music with her intense, momentarily arrested movement language an impressive interpretation of the story of the Greek princess Iphigenia, who serves as a priestess of Diana on the island of Tauris and is to sacrifice her own, lost brother.
